Stacy McClendon
My name is Stacy McClendon.
I am thankful to say that I am married to an incredibly beautiful and wonderful woman of my dreams, who happens to be my soulmate. Janet McClendon and I have been married for 27 years. We have three children, Stacy, Destiny, and Ryan. They are all very respectful kids who are learning about life and how to meet its challenges.
I am originally from Taliaferro County where I grew up spending a lot of time with family and friends playing basketball, watching movies, swimming, and reading.
In 1982, I transferred to Greene-Taliaferro as my school was too small to continue in high school. I made the varsity basketball team and did very well in my academic achievements. After high school, I obtained a college scholarship at Augusta College where I attended for two years. However, I ended up transferring to the Professional Career Institute in Atlanta Georgia, and obtained a Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Recreation Management with a Second in Psychology from the University of Arizona.
I became the Restaurant Manager for the Main Reynolds Restaurant Off Linger Longer Road. I spent some time working as a Personal Assistant for the Reynolds family which I used to increase my management and organizational skills. I also worked in Real Estate in the land department for Flat Rock Properties, where I learned a great deal about salesmanship, community service, and marketing.
I developed a real passion for guest services and therefore, when the Ritz-Carlton came to Greensboro in 2002, I decided to take my talents to the Ritz-Carlton at Lake Oconee. I became the Director of Guest Services and spent some time as a Hotel Manager. I was able to excel at these positions and win numerous five-star awards including employee of the year and I was nominated for one of their biggest awards, The Malcolm Bridge Award of Excellence, this is one of the most prestigious awards in the company. This experience allowed me to make an impact on a lot of people's lives and most importantly see them smile!
I spent some valuable hours volunteering for Greensboro Elementary, helping kids who need help with their reading and homework which is greatly needed in our community. Also, I volunteered at Tender Care with their sports program as a Recreation Coordinator, this position allowed me to help some of our youth learn and grow athletically, socially, and educationally, and broaden their perspectives. I have also had the pleasure to offer my skill set to other areas all over the community such as the Recreation Department, where I spent five years coaching basketball, soccer, and flag football. I have also enjoyed having the opportunity to work with Lake Oconee Academy, as their Assistant Basketball Coach and Director of Player Development for five years.
I am currently working in a position that I have a lot of passion for as it gives me the golden opportunity to “Change Lives and make a difference that counts” I am the Club Director for the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club. I have had the honor to be with the Club for 11 years in different positions from Program Specialist, Gym Instructor, Boys Scout Leader, Intern Director for the Madison-Morgan Club, and now Club Director.
I am currently serving as a Rotarian in my community, I am also on the GCHS District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC). The experience with the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club has greatly enhanced my ability to lead and direct others while also helping to build solid foundations for our youth in our community while focusing on creating a safe, clean, fun, and academic environment that will cultivate them and achieve our mission and help them to become productive and caring citizens, while keeping our vision in mind to create a world-class experience that ensures success is within reach of every young person that enters our doors.
