Stonish is a nationally recognized, board-certified healthcare executive with diverse clinical and leadership experiences in acute and ambulatory operations spanning not-for-profit, public, private, government, academic/teaching and faith-based hospitals, integrated delivery systems and for-profit physical therapy sectors.
A sought-after advisor, consultant, proven healthcare executive, operator, and public speaker, his broad leadership experiences span five states and six distinct healthcare markets.
He currently serves as President/CEO of Trinity Health Georgia, a regional teaching system within Trinity Health. Prior to his arrival at Trinity Health, he served in progressive leadership capacities with Ft. Lauderdale-based Holy Cross Health (Trinity Health), Michigan-based Beaumont Health, Chicago-based Presence Health (Ascension), San Diego-based Palomar Health (Mayo Care Network) and the VA Medical Center, Los Angeles.
In his role at Holy Cross, he instituted operational discipline to improve operating income by $14.3 million year over year, yielding a positive FY24 operating income. He was also responsible for coordinating a $41 million, multi-year campus optimization plan, facilitating the development of a pre-surgical testing/lab center, and launching an inaugural income guarantee program. During COVID-19, he led efforts to accelerate the delivery of vaccines to urgent care partners and worked with clinical leaders to re-establish open visitation to help with patient-centered care goals.
As System Vice President, Operations at Beaumont Health, he recruited over 150 physicians, co-led the transition of the PM&R residency to internal oversight, transitioned the employed hospitalist program to a value-based model, facilitated top decile divisional employee engagement and transitioned over 700 physicians to telehealth in the midst of COVID-19.
Prior to joining Beaumont, he served as Regional Chief Operating & Chief Business Development Officer for Presence Health, an Ascension ministry. In addition to managing hospital operations across two acute care campuses, he led $20 million in program design, construction and service expansions. His leadership resulted in the development of the Presence Center for Cancer and Specialty Care, Presence Pain Care, the Presence Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Care, the Presence Children’s Health Van, Cardiology renovations and business plan approvals that expanded services for Radiology, Laboratory, Rehab, Surgery, Sleep Medicine and GI services.
Prior to Presence, he served as Manager, Clinical Services for Palomar Health (Mayo Care Network) where he co-developed the system plan for centralizing hospital support services, developed the Palomar expresscare retail clinics, secured corporate partnerships, and served as a main writer for Palomar’s state-award winning Malcolm Baldrige application.
Stonish earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and his Master’s degree in Health Administration, with a graduate certificate in Management, all from the University of Southern California (USC). He is a four-time recertified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), a recipient of ACHE’s regional Early Career Healthcare Executive and Distinguished Service Awards, the USC Price School’s 90 Pioneers of 90 Years award and was named one of the Top 25 Emerging Leaders by Modern Healthcare in 2021.
