Durable Medical Equipment Resources
St. Mary’s Health Care System has identified access to durable medical equipment (DME) to be barrier for uninsured
and underinsured community members. This resource list provides information on discount or free DME in the
regional service area. Each organization has their own eligibility criteria and availability of new
and/or preowned equipment for those in need. Some resources rely on community donations and the availability of
specific DME may vary.
St. Mary’s Auxiliary Thrift Store
St. Mary’s Auxiliary Thrift Store offers free or discounted DME. St. Mary’s Community Health Worker, Catherine Gurak
(cgurak@stmarysathens.org), receives a weekly inventory list from the store and can assist hospital staff with
inpatient needs. For outpatient needs, patients and staff can call the thrift store directly to inquire about
specific items.

Aerocare
Aerocare provides a variety of DME, including CPAP machines and accessories, nebulizers, and pulse oximeters. They
have out-of-pocket options for uninsured and underinsured patients and can provide oxygen at a reduced cost.
Atlanta City Baptist Rescue Mission
Atlanta City Baptist Rescue Mission is a non-profit that serves those that are underserved and has donated DME to
patients.

Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC)
Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC) provides DME for adults and children with disabilities.
Friendship House
Loans out various medical equipment such as walkers, shower and tub seats, crutches, potty chairs, and wheelchairs free of charge to Hart County residents.

Hope Springs Community Medical Equipment
Hope Springs Community Medical Equipment is a Facebook group that you can request to join. You can create a post
requesting a piece of equipment or read posts from other members who are donating DME.

Lincare is a leading supplier of respiratory-therapy products that can provide oxygen at reduced rates.
Salvation Army
Salvation Army may have DME at their thrift store. Patients and staff can call to inquire about specific items. There
are locations in Snellville and Duluth.
