Family Medicine vs. Internal Medicine: Understanding the Difference
At Good Samaritan Primary Care, we offer both family medicine and internal medicine services. While both specialties provide primary care, there are key differences:
- Family Medicine: Focuses on comprehensive healthcare for patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. Family physicians treat a wide range of conditions and emphasize preventive care for the entire family.
- Internal Medicine: Specializes in adult healthcare, diagnosing and managing complex medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Internists provide specialized care tailored to adult patients.
- Specialized Adult-Gerontology Primary Care: For older adults, adult-gerontology primary care plays a crucial role in promoting healthy aging. Our team is trained to address the unique healthcare needs of older adults, managing chronic illnesses, cognitive health, mobility issues, and preventive care. With a compassionate approach, we help seniors maintain their independence and quality of life.
