Athens, Ga. – J. Brant Parramore, MD, a board-certified general surgeon with roots in Georgia, is joining Athens General and Colorectal Surgeons (AGCS), part of St. Mary's Medical Group, effective today.

dr parramoreAs a skilled endoscopic and laparoscopic surgeon, Dr. Parramore is able to use minimally invasive techniques for many procedures. Among the types of procedures he performs are breast surgery, including lumpectomy and mastectomy; thyroid surgery; gallbladder surgery; hernia repair; anti-reflux surgery; appendix surgery; stomach procedures; colon surgery; hemorrhoid disease, and colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.

Joining AGCS brings Dr. Parramore back to Athens. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, and received his medical education from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He completed his general surgery residency at MCG and has practiced with Summit Surgical in Dahlonega, Ga., and Advanced Surgical Associates in Greenwood, SC.

Dr. Parramore joins Drs. Sergio Mejias, Ryan Katz, W. Andrew Lawrence, Aaron Carr, Steve Shirley and Davis Horkan. His wife, Dr. Kathleen Jeffery, is also joining the practice as the region’s first female breast surgeon.

Dr. Parramore is now accepting appointments for surgical consultations at the AGCS main office, located at 740 Prince Ave., Building 2, Athens. A referral from a primary care physician may be required under some insurance plans. As part of St. Mary's Medical Group, AGCS accepts most major insurance plans and Medicare.
