Crowe Marine Sponsors 2020 Heart & Soul Gala

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Crowe Marine joins the list of sponsors to support the Heart and Soul Gala, St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital's biggest fundraiser, held at the Ritz Carlton, Reynolds Lake Oconee on Feb. 1.

Family is how Crowe Marine started. C.D. Crowe sold his first boat outside his existing sign shop in East Point, Ga., in 1959. In 1964, Bill Crowe joined his father in the family’s new boat dealership and in 1996 Bill and his son Brian moved Crowe Marine from East Point to Lake Oconee. Crowe Marine has been proud to call Lake Oconee home ever since. In its 61 years in business, Crowe Marine has watched families grow, having the privilege to be part of their lives as they celebrate life on the water.

The Crowe family has seen and experienced the benefits of St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital first-hand. In 2013, Bill Crowe was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. “St. Mary’s did such a great job of making sure he was cared for and comfortable during his time there,” Brian stated. “And the fact that he was able to be here, so close to home, meant a lot to us.”

Just three years later Beth Crowe’s mother was visiting from Florida when she fell ill with pneumonia and found herself in St. Mary’s care for three weeks. “Being away from home and sick can be a really stressful thing, but Good Samaritan Hospital did a really great job of keeping her comfortable until she was well enough to travel back home,” Beth said.

The Crowes feel appreciative towards St. Mary’s, not just for all the major medical moments but the minor ones as well. Like when their son spent Christmas Eve in the E.R. due to a viral infection or when Brian’s mother fell and hurt her knee.

“Having to drive mom to Athens would have been too much for her,” Brian said. “But we didn’t have to. We just went right up the road. And I know we aren’t the only ones that have things like that happen! We’ve always said that our customers are part of the family, so to know that we all have that care not only nearby, but that it’s quality care, it makes us feel good.”

About The Heart & Soul Gala:

The 2020 Heart & Soul Gala was held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Lake Oconee. The black-tie event included dinner, dancing, and live and silent auctions. All proceeds will go to the Expanding Technology, Elevating Care Capital Campaign to enhance technology, equipment and cardiovascular services at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital.
