Dr. Lorinda Cruz joins Athens Internal Medicine Associates

Athens, Ga. – Lorinda Cruz, MD, a board-certified primary care physician with a second certification in geriatrics, has joined Athens Internal Medical Associates and is now accepting new patient appointments.
Dr. Cruz comes to Athens Internal Medicine Associates (AIMA) and St. Mary’s Medical Group from Miramar Beach, Fla., where she practiced as a hospice physician with Emerald Coast Hospice and as a hospitalist with Ascension Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast. Prior to these positions, she practiced as a nocturnist/hospitalist at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Dr. Cruz received bachelor’s degrees in biology and Spanish from the University of Georgia. She went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine degree at Ross University in 2012, and then completed her primary care internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut in 2015. Additionally, she completed a one-year geriatric fellowship with the University of Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2016.
At AIMA, Dr. Cruz will provide adult wellness and routine follow-up care for a wide range of conditions, as well as treating acute care needs. As a provider within the AIMA team, she will work to create relationships with patients that promote trust and open communication, regardless of whether the patient has an ordinary cold or a complex chronic condition.
