Freedom from Smoking at Denny Tower
March 3, 2019If you are a resident of an Athens Housing Authority community and want to quit smoking, St. Mary’s is offering a free Freedom from Smoking class in March just for you.
Freedom from Smoking is a five-week course created by the American Lung Association, and is one of the most effective tools ever created to help people stop smoking. The class is facilitated by St. Mary’s respiratory therapist Todd Drake, an ex-smoker and a certified Freedom from Smoking instructor.
Participants will meet from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesdays March 5-26 and also on Thursday, March 28, at Denny Tower, 250 W. Dougherty St., Athens. There is no charge for AHA residents.

This Freedom from Smoking class is presented as part of St. Mary’s Community Benefit program to address one of the most serious health issues facing our community. Smoking has been proven to cause various kinds of cancer, heart disease and stroke. It is highly addictive, and most people need assistance to break free.
