Appointment Information
All patients are scheduled by appointment only. Although we make every effort to honor your appointment time, we hope
you understand emergencies arise. If there are delays, we will inform you as soon as possible. If you need to cancel
or reschedule an appointment, please do so as far in advance as possible. If you are a new patient coming into our
office please arrive at your appointment 30 minutes early to allow for completion of registration.
You may also complete the patient forms
online. If your insurance plan requires prior approval for services, please be sure to obtain your referral
before your visit. Please keep us updated with any changes to your name, address, telephone number or insurance
information in order to maintain accurate information in your medical record.
In Office Treatments
During your visit, your neurologist will first gather a very thorough history of your symptoms, prior
treatments and testing, and of your general health. He or she will then perform a complete
neurological examination. This initial step in determining a diagnosis is often the most important
one. Information on in-office treatments is below, and information on neurological testing that
might be done can be found here.
In office treatments include:
- Trigger Point Injection (TPI)
- Occipital Nerve Block Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Injection
Neurological Tests
The following tests, some of which can be performed in the office, may be ordered as part of the
evaluation your doctor employs in diagnosis of your neurological condition:
- EEG: An electroencephalogram
(EEG) is a test that detects electrical activity in your brain using small, metal discs
(electrodes) attached to your scalp. Your brain cells communicate via electrical impulses and
are active all the time, even when you're asleep. - EMG/NCS: EMG/NCS stands
for electromyogram and nerve conduction studies. And this is an electrical test of your nerves
and muscles. The purpose of the test is to localize where your symptoms are coming from. That
can be pain, any kind of numbness and tingling, and/or weakness. - CT Scan
- MRI
