Visitor Guidelines at St. Mary’s Hospital

We understand how important it is for our patients to have the support of loved ones during their stay. To ensure a comfortable and healing environment, we kindly ask visitors to follow these guidelines:

General Visiting Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM daily Visiting a loved one in the hospital can be a powerful source of comfort and healing. Your presence provides emotional support, lifts their spirits, and can even contribute to a faster recovery. Studies show that patients who receive visits from family and friends often experience reduced stress, improved mood, and a greater sense of connection. Whether it’s holding their hand, sharing a conversation, or simply sitting by their side, your visit reminds them that they are not alone on their journey to healing. Please be mindful of the patient’s need for rest and privacy. When capacity allows, one visitor may stay overnight in the patient’s room. Visitors are welcome in the Café and all waiting areas. If you’re accompanying a surgical patient, you may stay with them at admission and wait in the Surgical Services Waiting Room during their procedure.
	COVID-19 & Special Precautions Wearing a mask when visiting a COVID-19 patient is essential to protect both the visitor and the patient. Masks help reduce the spread of airborne particles, lowering the risk of transmitting the virus in a healthcare setting. Since hospitalized patients may have weakened immune systems, wearing a mask ensures their safety while also protecting visitors from potential exposure. Following these precautions helps create a safer environment for everyone in the hospital. Patients with COVID-19 may have one visitor at a time. Visitors must check in at the nurses’ station before entering and wear protective equipment as required. Children Visiting Children 12 years and older are welcome to visit. Special exceptions may apply. The hospital care team may limit children’s visits based on the patient’s condition. Siblings of newborns may visit the Family Birth Center during regular visiting hours.

Hospitals care for individuals with weakened immune systems, making them more vulnerable to infections. By adhering to guidelines—such as hand hygiene, wearing protective equipment when required, and respecting visitation rules—you help prevent the spread of illnesses and create a safe, healing environment. These measures ensure that your visit is both supportive for your loved one and mindful of the well-being of everyone in the hospital. To help keep our patients and staff safe, please: Only visit if you are feeling well and symptom-free. Follow posted COVID-19 signage and notify staff if symptoms develop. Practice good hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow. Wear provided protective equipment if visiting a patient in isolation. 	Center for Rehabilitative Medicine The Center for Rehabilitative Medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens is dedicated to helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence after illness, injury, or surgery. Our specialized rehabilitation team works closely with patients to provide personalized therapy and recovery plans. We welcome visitors as they offer encouragement and motivation, which can be an essential part of the healing process. Located on the 5th floor of St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens Monday – Friday: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM Saturday: 12:30 PM – 7:00 PM Sunday: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM Visitors should respect the recovery environment. If a visitor disrupts patient care, they may be asked to leave.

Parking at St. Mary’s Hospital

We want to make your visit as smooth and stress-free as possible, and that includes convenient parking options for patients and visitors.

Main Parking Deck (A) – Located in front of the hospital off Baxter Street, this deck offers the most accessible parking for Registration, Outpatient Diagnostics, the Emergency Center, Endoscopy, and most other patient care areas.
Children’s Specialty Services Parking – For families visiting our Children’s Specialty Services, designated parking is available directly in front of the free-standing facility behind the hospital.
Employee Parking – To ensure convenient access for patients, our lower parking lots (Lot B and Magnolia Street near IHOP) are reserved for St. Mary’s employees.

Parking Guidelines & Payment Options

Please be mindful of spaces marked “Van Only” and “Compact Car Only” on the first level of the parking garage.

Parking spots along the retaining wall west of the hospital are reserved for our medical staff—please avoid parking in these areas unless directed by a parking or security team member.

St. Mary’s parking services are managed by Towne Park, ensuring safe and efficient parking support.
