Katherine Habenicht Yancey, MD

Dr. Yancey is originally from Tennessee. She attended the University of Georgia for her undergraduate education and went on to medical school at University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, TN. She completed her general surgery residency at Wake Forest School of Medicine in North Carolina. She stayed on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery.

She has practiced in both Western and Eastern North Carolina from 2016-2024. She is happy to bring her family and return to Athens, GA to serve the community in addressing surgical needs. She treats a broad scope of surgical issues.

She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. She is active in the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

She has a special interest in hernia work, especially complex abdominal wall reconstruction. She employs minimally invasive techniques, including endoscopy, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery.
